Summerbridge Methodist Chapel

The 'old' methodist chapel in Summerbridge was built in 1827 and sold to the Hartwith-cum-Winsley School Board in 1896. The building is still occupied by Summerbridge Primary School.

While the new chapel was under construction, meetings were held in the Mechanics Institute - now the hairdressers. The opening took place on September 8th 1894

An organ featuring an electric blower was installed in 1911, New York Mill and the chapel being the first buildings in Nidderdale to get electricity in 1901. The interior was extensively renovated after a fire in 1981.
