There were eight Primitive Methodists in Darley in 1839 and the chapel was built in 1841, at a cost of £170. In 1927 there were 160 members of the Primitive Methodist circuit and 45 attended Darley Chapel. In 1932 the Wesleyan and Primitive circuits amalgamated and the two local circuits were merged in September 1933. The chapel closed in 1978 when members moved to the Wesleyan Chapel in Darley. The chapel is now a private home.
